1.   Summary

The Optical Replacement Promotion is a package containing NetApp hardware and software designed to target typical optical storage deployments.  With the increasing pressure on this market due to the exit of HP from this business in July 2006 and continued headaches faced by customers from management of these solutions, a targeted disk-based archival solution can significantly increase our ability to penetrate accounts that use optical storage or are considering deployment of optical storage solutions.

The Optical Replacement  promotion offers a NetApp FAS3020 with SnapLock, one protocol, and 7TB of SATA disk storage at a promotional direct end-customer price of $46,806 USD for the bundle with CIFS and $56,352 USD for the bundle with NFS, from May 29, 2007 through Nov 29, 2007.  The pricing published on May 25 was NetApp pricing to the channel, not the promotional direct pricing. NetApp resellers may still use the prices announced on May 25 as their promo prices from NetApp—no additional channel discounts or PVRs apply.  For reference purposes, direct list prices for these same configurations with NetApp initial installation are $124,053 for the SnapLock CIFS bundle and $136,565 for the SnapLock NFS bundle. Promo pricing can be summarized as follows:

Bundle option

Normal list price

NetApp promo price for direct sales

FAS 3020-7TB SnapLock CIFS with NetApp initial installation

$124,053

$46,806

FAS 3020-7TB SnapLock NFS with NetApp initial installation

$136,565

$56,352

Channel partners and channel reps should refer to the Channel Optical Replacement Promotion Product Bulletin for pricing. Only 1 PVR is allowed per customer account.  The PVR approval will be based on meeting the following criteria: The deal has to involve either an existing Optical Takeout or be targeted against a new Optical storage opportunity.   This has to be shown via listing of the competitive optical vendor including vendor name, model number, and opportunity size (see Order Process below).

2.   Availability Period

The promotion is targeted to run for 2 quarters length of time starting on May 29 to Nov 29 2007.  The period may be extended at a later point in time depending on certain metrics. This promotion currently only applies to the North American Geo locations.

3.   Regions Supported

In North America the countries supported are Canada and USA.

4.   Restrictions and Requirements

•     This offer is available for customers in North America only.

•     Each customer is limited to a maximum of 1 promotion package

•     If preceded by an evaluation, the promo offer must be exercised (i.e. converted to sale at the promo price) within four (4) weeks of the ship date.
